Torrance Pain Institute uses an individualized approach to pain management because we understand that every patient experiences pain differently. We begin by looking into the patient’s medical history before developing a narcotic-free treatment plan. Our team is committed to helping our patients manage their pain in a responsible way while regaining lost functionality. We put our patient’s safety and healing first so they can get back to enjoying the things they love without chronic pain holding them back.
If you are looking for an alternative to pain medications to get lasting relief from post-surgery pain, injury, or chronic pain, we welcome you to our practice.
Dr. Amir Norbaksh is specialized in interventional pain management with a focus on regenerative medicine. He went to medical school locally at Western University in Pomona, California. He then finished his residency in anesthesiology at New York Medical College with an emphasis on regional anesthesia before returning home to Southern California.
He is a board-certified anesthesiologist and one of few physicians in the region who is certified in ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal pain medicine. Skills earned in operating musculoskeletal ultrasound gives the doctor the tools for much better precision in accessing target structures, increasing safety while eliminating the unnecessary need for radiation from x-ray fluoroscopy machines.
Pain management is a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of acute and chronic pain. The goal of pain management is to help patients manage their pain in a safe, effective, and responsible way.
When you are experiencing pain for a prolonged period of time and can’t get your pain under control despite treatment and healthy lifestyle habits, it’s time to seek help from a pain management doctor.
During your consultation, you may have to complete a detailed history and undergo a physical exam. Your doctor may also order tests such as blood tests, x-rays, MRI’s etc. to evaluate your pain. These procedures allow your doctor to have a better understanding of the pain you are experiencing and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
Pain or mild soreness at the site of the injection is common.
Most of our treatment procedures are quick and only require local anesthesia to minimize pain and discomfort. In some cases, conscious sedation may be needed.
The numbing medications we use can cause temporary numbness and weakness to the injection site. For your safety, arrange for transportation with a friend or family member prior to your appointment.
